Why Michael Carrick should start for England this summer

Alex Keble argues on FourFourTwo’s Stats Zone blog, why at Euro 2012, England should have Manchester United’s Michael Carrick in the starting XI ahead of midfield competitors Scott Parker and Gareth Barry of Tottenham and league champions Manchester City respectively.

Note that Carrick hasn’t been included in the England’s Euro 2012 squad after he got frustrated at only playing a bit-part role over his whole international career, and wouldn’t return to the fold unless as a key player.
